GM Exercise Triton II: Documents

Exercise Summary:

Greater Manchester local authorities, emergency services and partners are carrying out an emergency planning exercise in July, 2016.

Under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004, it is a requirement for local authorities and emergency services to plan for major incidents. This year's exercise involves over 25 organisations making it one of the biggest of its kind ever held in the region.

It will give personnel from the organisations involved the vital opportunity to put their emergency plans into practice on the ground.

The activity will be taking place in and around Dovestone Reservoir, Oldham and Hollingworth Lake, Rochdale on Thursday July 14 2016. It will involve the presence of personnel, vehicles and intermittent aerial activity involving a military helicopter at Dovestone Reservoir and Hollingworth Lake. The Macron Stadium in Bolton will be used as a meeting point for Emergency Service vehicles.

All agencies involved will work hard to keep disruption to a minimum around the area and it will be business as usual for all local authority and emergency response services doing the exercise.  However, the public car park (off Bank Lane) at Dovestone will be closed on Thursday, July 14. This route will be access-only for residents.

On the same day, at Hollingworth Lake the public car parks (along Hollingworth Road and Lake Bank) will be unavailable to members of the public.

We are limited in what information we can disclose at this time as all organisations will be tested on their response.
